The VanLandingham Estate
The VanLandingham Estate was built by its original owners, Ralph and Susie VanLandingham, in 1913. After changing hands multiple times, including being owned by UNCC, The VanLandingham Estate is today owned by Unique Southern Estates, a group of local business people who have spent over a million dollars in renovations and care for the property. Before being placed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the home was almost sold to a developer who planned to tear it down and build a high rise.
Thank goodness it was saved. The grounds are a beautiful haven tucked away in the Plaza-Midwood neighborhood. This California bungalow-style home was very modern for its time, and some of the original antiques still remain within the estate. Today, The VanLandingham is a very popular location for weddings and events. To plan a visit or to learn more, visit the official website.
